I am a beginning golfer and am looking for a good introductory or tutorial website for beginners.?

I love playing and started about a year ago but haven't been able to put too much time into it. I recently quit smoking and instead of eating and gaining weight to replace that habit I would like to dive into golf and learn how to play well. If any one knows of any good beginers websites I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!I am a beginning golfer and am looking for a good introductory or tutorial website for beginners.?
First of all congratulations on quiting smoking and taking up the health style of living, I hope many will be inspired and follow your foot steps.

I think there are ton of websites for learning golf but most of the time you got to pay for it.

My personal favorit websites are;

1. For golf video clips - http://www.golfspan.com/

2. I think for anyone who wants to learn about different things related to golf this website is like a sea waiting to be explored - http://www.golfdigest.com/

3. The best forum that will get you lots of friends and buddies who will help you and guide you about every single thing that you can think about golf, it also got its own online Flea Market section - http://www.freegolfinfo.com/forums/

Remember there are lots of websites and forums but the key is to use all those in right manner and use the info for your good.I am a beginning golfer and am looking for a good introductory or tutorial website for beginners.?
www.golf.com is a good website with instructional tips.

Like the other guy said, you might considering buying Ben Hogan's Five Lessons book. Some consider it the golfing bible as far as fundamentals are concerned.

You also should seriously consider taking golf lessons from a local instructor. If you're a beginner it's a good idea to take lessons before you develop any bad habits with your swing. I regret not taking a couple of lessons sooner than I did.
Congratulations on quitting smoking and taking up golf!!!! Hope you are a walker instead of someone who jumps into a golf cart and rides like a maniac all over the place.

Nothing can beat taking lessons from a pro. You get proper instruction. Find out from your friends who play golf about good local teaching pros. You can take group lessons to start of. You make new friends and new golfing buddies who are in the same boat as you are. Once you progress to a point where you are confident you can take a couple of individual lessons. It is better than spending all that money on videos and tutorials. The pros can give you advice suited to you. The videos and books and other such stuff are general. They are useful once you have learnt the proper basics and you want a few pointers. Again, if you starting out invest in a few lessons. You will never regret it.

Fore!!!!! :)
Hey Lea! First, I would like to congratulate you for choosing to be healthy by stop smoking. I'm a beginner too, I got some good instructional videos on www.golfchannel.com, %26amp; www.golf.com. You could either read the articles or just watch the videos. Goodluck! and Happy swinging!!!
While tutorials are good for background....nothing beats lessons to learn the proper techniques of the golf swing.

Congrats on the Smoking thing.....Good luck with your Golf!
Incredible web site: http://perfectgolfswingreview.net/

Also, grab yourself a copy of Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. Should be about $12 at your book store.
Get the books Golf My Way from Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogans fundamentals of golf.
Three things you should do:

1) Get a few lessons. Starting with group lessons is a good start, but you will want some individual lessons later.

2) Subscribe to Golf Digest (not that other rag). The best swing and course management tips out there.

3) Hit the range. If you want to play well you will need to get a swing you can repeat consistently. That takes a lot of practice.

Good luck!
While this site is new, new content is being added quickly.

I have plans to add many informative and instructional articles, how to books and videos. Have some great e-books and vidoes already. Any bookmark the site and visit often, I hope you learn something from the site. Golf is a great sport and I never grow tired of reading about and watching my favorite pro's play.
